Michael Fordham QC is lead counsel in the Citizens UK judicial review claim which challenges the legality of the Government’s action while rescuing 550 unaccompanied children with UK family links after the demolition of the Calais jungle camp, in leaving behind at least 400 others in temporary care centres throughout France, having waited months for news and now abandoned by a process in which they had placed their hopes.
Permission for judicial review was granted by the High Court at a contested oral hearing on 28 February 2017 and an expedited substantive hearing will take place in May.
