Following a four day hearing in early March, the Disciplinary Panel of the Cricket Discipline Commission of the English Cricket Board (ECB) has today published its decisions in six cases against former Yorkshire County Cricket Club cricketers: John Blain, Tim Bresnan, Michael Hoggard, Richard Pyrah, Andrew Gale and Michael Vaughan.
The Panel held that in five of those cases, some racist and/or discriminatory language had been used by those individuals which was prejudicial to the interests of cricket and brought the game into disrepute.
Yorkshire County Cricket Club had already admitted agreed charges. Gary Ballance admitted the charge of using racist and/or discriminatory language.
In relation to the sixth Respondent, Michael Vaughan, the Panel did not find that he had used racist and/or discriminatory language.
The Panel will now proceed to determine sanction.
Jane Mulcahy KC and Sarah Wilkinson acted for the English Cricket Board.
Nick De Marco KC acted for Azeem Rafiq with respect to the public hearing application.
