Gorgeous Beauty Ltd v Irene and William Liu and ors

Andrew Green QC and Jana Sadler-Forster, instructed by Baker & McKenzie, successfully represented the Claimant in a trust dispute between two sides of a Taiwanese family over the ownership of a valuable plot of land in Taiwan.
 
The Judge, in a 130 page judgment, found for the Claimant that the land had been bought for the benefit of the family's company's shareholders and not for the Second Defendant. In so finding, the Judge considered that the Defendants had fraudulently created a declaration of trust in favour of the second defendant, without the shareholders' knowledge. The case involved various trust law issues under Seychelles law.
 
The case involved 14 witnesses of fact and two expert witnesses. It was heard by the Chancery Division in June 2014.
