Andreas Gledhill KC is a commercial litigator, with particular expertise in finance disputes, fraud and asset recovery. He has been ranked as a leading practitioner in the independent guides for over 25 years, and was awarded Company/Insolvency Silk of the Year at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2023 (having previously been nominated twice for the same award).
Before taking silk, Andreas was a leading junior in insolvency and companies litigation, and a contributor to practitioner textbooks in those fields. He is now instructed across a wide range of high value commercial litigation, in which he is equally at home arguing cutting-edge points of law, and handling document-heavy High Court trials.
Andreas is described by Chambers & Partners 2024 as a “brilliant legal mind”, and by Chambers & Partners 2023 as “beautiful to watch in court especially when handling really challenging cases”. He wins particular praise for his incisive cross-examinations, often in the context of complex and technical subject-matter. He frequently leads large teams, and takes a hands-on approach to shaping strategy from the outset, to facilitate out-of-court settlement before trial, whenever possible.
Andreas has appeared as an expert witness on English law in overseas courts, and is regularly instructed in domestic and international arbitrations. His innovative and intellectually rigorous approach is also sought out for advisory work by corporates, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Andreas acts in large-scale commercial litigation, frequently involving issues of fraud and mis-selling, and often with an international element. Notable cases over the last few years include:
“Unflappable, reads the court well, polite, courteous, and very bright. Top-draw advocate.”
